Gillian’s Island (Part 3)

$10.00

In this part 3 sequel, the castaways are rescued… only to end up in a big storm that threatens their very lives. There is still a lot of humor as this one gets more serious toward the end.

Skippie arrives with her dad (Skippie could be a male) and they find everyone asleep. They have to wake them up and get them on Skippie’s boat. With Gillian sleepwalking and everyone out cold because of what they ate… it is comical. The second half is the storm and the passengers begin to talk about life and death and what is important. Carrie Ann boldly shares the gospel and prays for their deliverance. It seems as if some of them are having a changed heart once they are safely through the storm. There are prequels that you can get to precede this sketch, parts 1 and 2. Or if you want all three, go to the general Christian script category and scroll till you find “Gillian’s Island – The Play”. You save a little money by buying the play rather than the three skits.

8 actors (written as 3 male and 5 female) About 15 mins.

LIGHTS UP ON:

SCENE ONE.
As the lights come up, Skippie and the Captain enter walking on the beach. On another part of the stage, there are some large leaves or other types of covering on the stage, hiding the fact that people are under it. Or the people are behind a log or just out of the way, so that the two actors on stage do not notice them.
SKIPPIE
I’m so glad to see that those girls had the brains to throw down the anchor before my boat crashed into those rocks.
CAPTAIN
The anchor. Something that you should have thought of back at the petrol port.
SKIPPIE
I know! You’re never going to let me live this down, are you Dad?
CAPTAIN
You’re just lucky that they figured out how to use the radio and call for help. We may not have been able to find them otherwise.
SKIPPIE
Well, now that we have found them… where are they? Why aren’t they out here meeting us? They’re being rescued for Pete’s sake! Hello! Anybody home?? Oh, here comes someone…
Gillian enters walking slow and steady looking straight ahead not really focused. She is sleep walking.
SKIPPIE
Oh, hello! I’m Skippie, the owner of the boat, and this is my father, Captain…
She stops talking because Gillian has walked right past them not even noticing them. And she continues to wander. They begin to follow her.
SKIPPIE
Excuse me! Hey!
CAPTAIN
She looks like she’s sleep walking!

SKIPPIE
I’ll try talking to her. What’s your name?
They continue to follow her around as she wanders all over the stage
GILLIAN
Gillian.
SKIPPIE
Gillian! Are you asleep?
CAPTAIN
Be careful not to surprise her. I hear you should not wake a sleep walker.
GILLIAN
That’s right. Don’t wake me.
SKIPPIE
Gillian, we’re here to rescue you.
GILLIAN
That’s nice.
SKIPPIE
Where are the girls?
GILLIAN
What girls?
SKIPPIE
Carrie Ann and Pepper. They came on that boat.
GILLIAN
(singing)
Row, row, row your boat…
CAPTAIN
Can you tell us where the girls are?
SKIPPIE
Or anybody else for that matter.
GILLIAN
It doesn’t matter. Would you like some fish?
SKIPPIE
Huh?
GILLIAN
Carrie Ann cooked it. It was delicious. Everyone liked it, even grumpy Mr. Powell.
CAPTAIN
Powell? Not Theodore Powell, the billionaire?! He’s been missing for days!
GILLIAN
He’s not missing. I know exactly where he is.
CAPTAIN
Where is he?
GILLIAN
Right over there. (she doesn’t point)
SKIPPIE
Over where?
GILLIAN
Over there. With the others.
SKIPPIE
What others?
GILLIAN
Sshhh… they’re sleeping. Mustn’t wakey wakey…
SKIPPIE
This is bizarre! We’re talking with a sleep walker! She’s talking nonsense!
CAPTAIN
(looking around)
Maybe not. Look over there.
They cross over to the others and remove the coverings to find them all asleep on the ground.
SKIPPIE
Are they all dead?
CAPTAIN
No, I can see that they’re breathing. I think they’re all asleep. Just like she said.
They begin to shake the sleepers and they slowly awake, Carrie Ann first. She is groggy and confused.
GILLIAN
That was too many questions. I’m going to lie down now.
She lies down near the others and continues sleeping.
SKIPPIE
Hey! Come on you guys! Wake up!
PEPPER
(sitting up suddenly)
Oh! Did I oversleep again? I do have to get my beauty rest, you know!
Pepper lays back down, asleep.
CARRIE ANN
Ooooh.. What happened? Where am I?
SKIPPIE
Carrie Ann! It’s me, Skippie! I’m the one with the boat, remember?
CARRIE ANN
What happened?
CAPTAIN
That’s what we want to know! Why are you all sleeping?
CARRIE ANN
(yawns big & looking around at the others)
I don’t know why I’m so sleepy! Well… looky there!
CAPTAIN
Come on, lets get you up on your feet!
They stand her up and she is starting to wake up better now.
CARRIE ANN
This is weird isn’t it? The last thing I remember is having dinner.
CAPTAIN
What did you have for dinner?
CARRIE ANN
Oh! Some fish we caught. I cooked it up with some herbs and spices. Also… papaya and mango…. very tasty if I do say so myself.
SKIPPIE
Could fish do this to them?
CAPTAIN
Where did you get the herbs and spices?
CARRIE ANN
Oh… just some stuff I found growing wild on the island.
CAPTAIN
That could have done it. I’m afraid your cooking did this.
CARRIE ANN
I poisoned them?
CAPTAIN
I hope not. Let’s just try to get everybody awake and moving around.
She helps her walk as C.A. is much more alert now, and the Captain helps up Pepper, still asleep.
CAPTAIN
Hey… isn’t this Pepper Grant, the actress?
Pepper suddenly wakes
PEPPER
Oh, hi! Would you like my autograph?
