God’s Grace For A Mother

$10.00

In this Christian skit, Mom is having her devotions and asking God for grace to accomplish her tasks that she is called to do as a wife and mother. Suddenly her husband appears interrupting her with questions and needs.

The teenage daughter enters and she needs to talk to her about a matter that involves some discipline. Dad comes back with suggestions for a dinner party and asking her opinion about buying another car. The daughter comes back in asking advice on how she should deal with her friend at school. Clearly, the Mom has a full day ahead of her and is probably not shown as much respect as she deserves for all she does .

3 actors (One male, one female and one teenage female). About 7-8 mins.

Excerpt:

SCENE IS A WOMAN SITTING AT A TABLE HAVING HER TEA/COFFEE AND READING HER BIBLE. THERE IS A PLATE OF MUFFINS ON THE TABLE.
Mom pushes the Bible aside and bows her head to pray..
MOM
Dear Father, please give me grace this day to be able to do all that I am called to do. Thank you for your blessings in my life…my husband…my children…and the ministry I have as a wife and mother…
DAD
(Entering the room quickly, tying his tie and interrupting her prayer)
I can’t find my tweed jacket….is it at the cleaners?
MOM
I think it will be ready today. I’ll pick it up.
DAD
Okay, I’ll wear something else. Is that coffee?
MOM
I have some for you on the stove. Do you want me to get it?
DAD
No…I’ll get it.
MOM
I can bring it to you.
DAD
No…I’ll grab it on my way out.
MOM
I made some muffins for breakfast. You need to eat something.
DAD
Maybe I can take one with me. But then I can’t brush my teeth.
MOM
You should keep a toothbrush at the office. Honey…we need to have that talk with Beka. We didn’t do it last night.
DAD
You’re right. But I just don’t have time today. I think you’ll have to handle this one.
MOM
We are in agreement that she was wrong and needs to be punished?
DAD
Yes. What were you thinking?
MOM
We could ground her and not let her go out with her friends for a week?
DAD
Will that be punishment enough? I want to her feel that she’s being punished. She knew better and she can’t get away with it.
MOM
I’ll talk to her.
DAD
Thanks for taking care of that. I know you like us to do it together. Don’t you have to make the kids’ lunches?
MOM
All done. Just waiting for them to come down for breakfast.
DAD
How does my tie look? I better go look in a mirror. (He exits as Beka enters)
BEKA
Morning Dad.
DAD
Morning Sweetheart.
BEKA
Morning Mom.
MOM
Beka…I made muffins this morning.
BEKA
Oh…none for me, Mom. I’m meeting some people before first period, so I won’t have time.
MOM
Do I have to take you early?
BEKA
You don’t have to take me at all. So that will save you time. You only have to go to the other two schools and you can skip mine. Shannon is picking me up.
MOM
When were you planning on telling me about this?
BEKA
I’m telling you now.
MOM
You can’t wait to the last minute to tell me something that is going to effect my schedule. You should know that. I made muffins this morning.
BEKA
I’m sorry Mom.
MOM
Sometimes you don’t stop and think about how your actions and decisions effect others. That reminds me…I want to talk to you about something. Have a seat.
BEKA
Mom…can’t it wait? I think Shannon will be here any minute.
MOM
She can wait. This is important.
BEKA
What?
MOM
Please sit down and please show me some respect.
(Beka sits)
