The Singles Club

$5.00

A group of singles meet to join a singles club. The woman running it is a little strange and so are a few of the new members. They each talk about themselves and how they happened to be single.

SKU: 270 Categories: , Tag:

Some are sad and some are humorous and even downright ridiculous for laughs. Then at the end, a couple of the guys start talking and decide that this place isn’t meeting their needs. They decide to try the ministry offered at the church one of them attends, where they could get their spiritual needs met, which is more important than just finding someone. The message being that single Christians need to look for a place that will meet their spiritual needs as a person and not just be a dating service.

8 actors (4 male, 4 female) About 9 mins.

CHARLOTTE
I met my first husband at Gilley’s. He was so handsome…and boy could he dance! It was nice while it lasted. Then he traded me in for a newer model. My second husband was a truck driver. We met at a truck stop. He was gone so much, that I think he forgot he was married. Once that divorce was final, I decided that maybe I didn’t know how to pick ‘em. I hired a dating service and they matched me up with Frank. Frank and I really did have a lot in common. He was my third husband and I was his fourth wife. Problem was, he wasn’t over #3 yet, and they ended up getting back together. I said then that I was done gettin’ married, but then I met Hugh. We fell so in love so fast and we married after only knowing each other 2 weeks. It only lasted a year…but what an exciting year! Unfortunately, I’ll be paying off those credit cards for a long time! But enough about me… Charlotte! I want to hear your story, Gil.
GIL
That’s what you think! My story ain’t an easy one to tell. I’m Gil. That’s short for Gilligan. No commints about the name, please! I met me a gal. She was Mrs. Right. I just knew it. Took her out a coupla times and then asked her to marry me. We had us one a those quickie weddins and it was all over with…the very next day!
CHARLOTTE
You mean, the marriage was over?
GIL
I reckon it was! Turns out she warn’t no woman!
MARSHA
What do you mean?
GIL
Turns out she was a man! (Everyone gasps) That’s right! I done married a man! I thought it was kinda strange that she went by her initials…J.B. I asked her what they stood for, and she said June Bug. Now, I ask you…whoever named their kid June Bug!? Little did I know that it really stood for Jim Bob! I went downtown to get the thing annulled and they said that it warn’t no legal marriage no how…bein’ she…I mean he warn’t no woman. I hope they’s right about that.
MARSHA
Oh my! Let’s move on to Diane. I guess you don’t have to say your name since I just said it.
DIANE
I don’t mind saying it. I’m Diane. I’m single. That’s about it.
MARSHA
How did you become single, dear?
DIANE
I don’t think I ever “became” single. I have always been.
MARSHA
You mean, you’ve never been married?
DIANE
That’s right.
MARSHA
Oh…how strange.
DIANE
I don’t see why. I’ve never been married and I have no plans to ever be. Marriage doesn’t interest me in the least.
MARSHA
Then why did you join The Singles Club?
DIANE
I’m single. Seems to me it’s a logical thing to do. I do qualify, do I not?
