Everyone knows that the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the entire year. It even has its own title: “BLACK FRIDAY!!” For Albert Grayson, it’s “do or die” time. A bad Christmas retail season could spell doom for Grayson’s Department Store. One of his concerns this Christmas is the wrapping department, after all, it’s the cornerstone of customer service. Can Mr. Grayson whip the wrapping department into shape? Can he save the department store that his father founded? Can he remember exactly why he celebrates Christmas? As he interacts with his employees, he learns a great lesson of how people should be treated and the best way to win people to Christ. In a dream, he sees how he is supposed to be acting toward others, one girl in particular who he thinks is worthless, and that changes him. At the end, he finds himself getting married and sees his young female employee as someone with a future instead of a loser with no hope.

Cast List
Brittney: A young, energetic employee who doesn’t take life too seriously.
Drexel: An energetic employee who secretly wants to be a “rapper.”
Lois: An employee who works at the perfume counter in Grayson’s Department Store. She is a strong Christian woman who keeps Albert on his toes.
Albert: The owner of Grayson’s Departments Store, now that his father has left it to him. He is a “stick in the mud” and is more concerned with money and keeping up the appearances of the store than his employees.
Susan: A lazy employee whose life is off track at the moment. She has lost her faith and doesn’t know where to turn.
Frank: An upstanding delivery man who delivers packages to Grayson’s Department Store. He is very concerned for Susan and cares deeply for her.
Charity: A lost little girl who helps to bring the true meaning of Christmas to Mr. Grayson. Her true identity is revealed later in the script.
Andy: Susan’s autistic brother and he helps Charity bring the true meaning of Christmas to Mr. Grayson.
Jeanie: Susan’s sister and caretaker of Charity
Short Scene:
Charity: That’s Mary.
Andy: (excited – like she won a game show) YES!! Mary!! You are right. You are smart. Very smart girl know Mary and Mary – God choose Mary to be mom. She is Jesus mom. She had Baby Jesus and they he had to sleep in manger. Manger. This manger. With cows and cows and sheep. Stinky **whew** stinky but they take care of Baby Jesus. Mary take care of Baby Jesus and take care of Him and (getting Joseph figurine) this Joseph. Joseph husband but God, God is Jesus Father – cause God send Jesus. Send Him to manger to be born.
Albert: That’s very good Andy – do you know why Jesus was born?
Andy: Jesus God’s son. Had to be born. Had to. Had to ‘cause – love. Love Andy. God love Andy and bring Jesus here to teach Andy to love people and then Jesus die for me and come back. Jesus die for Andy and now Andy know love. Jesus die for Andy. (hugs as he announced their name) And Mr. Grayson. Jesus love Mr. Grayson. Jesus die for you and forgive you ‘cause He love you. And little girl
Charity: Charity.
Andy: Charity. Jesus love Charity and be born for her and die for her and forgive her. Jesus love Charity.
Charity: Actually, Charity means love.
Andy: (shocked and amazed) Charity mean love? Your name mean love? WOOOOOW!!! Charity and love are same!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!! I like it. I like that. I like that. WOW! I change Andy to Charity. I change my name to your name (Albert and Charity laugh with Andy). From now on – I’m Charity. Andy Charity. You’re Charity. Mr. Grayson – you Charity? Because – Charity mean love. You show charity Mr. Grayson. Show charity? Cause charity mean love. Love Mr. Grayson. You show love?
(Albert is so overtaken by the simplicity yet complex nature of Andy’s question which Andy could be repeating over and over – only if it works – it might work with only once – play with it and see what works. So, Albert is so overwhelmed – realizing that he has not showed charity toward others that he goes over and hugs/holds on to Andy. They are in this hug hold as Albert weeps – pause- pause – pause – and Andy says)
