Finding what you’re looking for can be a challenge. I thought I might blog about some of the things that people tend to be looking for on my website. Christian plays can incorporate a large number of categories and subjects. A Christian Christmas play can be the most often type that churches and Christian schools are looking for. We have a large number of Christmas plays and in many lengths and various cast sizes. There are several biblical Christmas plays that tell the story of the birth of Christ, and often from different perspectives. We have scripts/stories about the shepherds, wise men, and the Innkeepers. We also have many modern day stories with different kinds of Christian messages and themes around Christmas time.
Another popular topic is “Heroes of the Faith”. The most popular character on that list is probably Corrie ten Boom. (The Hiding Place) Others include many missionaries of the past: Hudson Taylor, Gladys Aylward, George Muller, Wilson Carlile, and Lottie Moon, to name a few. My favorite in the missionary category is probably Hudson Taylor: Called to China. Fanny Crosby’s story is also one that sometimes gets some attention.
Patriotic scripts can also be somewhat popular. I do have a lot of free scripts on the site and when I see which ones people are adding to their orders, they are quite often historical scripts or biblical scripts. Some of the historical characters you might find are Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, Abigail Adams and Martha Washington. Also included are scripts about Lewis and Clark, Francis Scott Key, Pocahontas, The Wright Brothers and the Pilgrims meeting Squanto. Probably the most popular of the free ones in this category would be the one about the vote for independence.
Biblical plays are in abundance here. If you want something very large at Easter, Scenes From the Life of Christ tells the whole story. Lesser/smaller versions would be Joseph’s Wife, Our Eyes Have Seen, The Appearing, Then Comes the Morning, The Sun Has Risen and Witnesses. You will also find a lot of monologues that include such biblical heroes as Moses, John the Baptist, Queen Esther, Stephen and the Roman Soldier. Also, look for several of the disciples/ apostles/ followers including John, Peter, Matthew, Andrew, Mary Magdalene and Paul. Happy hunting. I think most of them have an excerpt to read. Let me know if I can help.
