Seeing God’s hand in your life is always a major blessing. I see the way he directs my steps even if it is not how I would have pictured or necessarily wanted it. A few weeks ago, I auditioned for a play that sounded like a lot of fun to be part of. I’m older now, so the parts are limited, but the director assured me that there was something that could be right for me. I hate auditions, (who doesn’t?) and I really don’t think mine was very good. So, I did not get cast in the production. I assume there was a lot of stiff and talented competition. Looking back, I can see God’s hand in that. Just a week or two later, my site crashed and I had to build a new website from scratch and was working at it every free moment for a two week period. I did NOT need to be in a production at that time, and hurrying off to rehearsals every night.
The new site is finished and live and there have been sales. I seem to be doing better on search engine rankings now. I’m sure having a new site is helping with that. I knew I had some major issues and that I needed help, but the crash and rebuild was not what I would have looked for, yet, it seemed to be the best thing. I learned a lot with the help of the WordPress team and I know how to do a few more things than I did before. Gaining knowledge and learning skills is always a good thing and I know God has His hand in that as well.
A website like this has always been a step of faith. I never had any idea that this would even work. Back in the day, I remember when I had 8 scripts (mostly Christmas plays) and decided to start a website and try to sell them. Then the Lord led me to post something about being available to write custom scripts and things just took off from there. I began to call myself a Christian playwright and people began to hire me to write plays that were suited for them. Those scripts went on my site to be available for others. So, 23 years later, I look back on how God’s hand has been in all this. There was some success, after taking an early-out retirement from the post office. In just a few years, it grew to a nice size and generated some good income. Then we went through some lean years, which I still believe had God’s hands all over it. Now we are in probably the 5th version of the site, with 310 scripts and a renewed excitement with it. Another step of faith: a decision to quit one of my part time jobs, and looking forward to seeing God’s hand in what comes next.
